First multi-player demo released
The first network based, multi-player oriented, demo version of the
Ca3D-Engine is out!
While the look and feel has hardly changed (compared to the last, non-networked
demo), the changes in the underlying technology have been
ENORMOUS. A large amount of new code has been written,
clarifying and improving many aspects of the code design. Although the new demo
operates fully on the network (even in its single-player mode), it feels as
smooth as in the earlier versions. The difference is that now, additional
players can join you over the network! Today, I am happy to be able to
say, that I made the right decision in taking on this great challenge. There is
still work to be done on the new code, but I believe that the current version
is good enough now that you do not have to wait any longer.
The radiosity algorithm is faster now and produces better results, and the
sunlight casts less aliased shadows.
