Gallery - MS-DOS These are the oldest screen-shots of Ca3DE that are still available. Taken in early and small test maps, Ca3DE was still running under MS-DOS and the 3D rendering was still done with my own software rasterizer and renderer at that time. The first eight images (two series) show the polygons textured, uni-colored, and in wire-frame, presenting BSP and PVS characteristics. The second wire-frame shot in each series shows the same scene as before, but with the PVS turned off. The last three screen-shots are newer, made with "Ca3Dgl" using OpenGL for the first time for hardware accelerated rendering. Compared to before, it not only gets the alignment of all textures right, it also makes use of mip-mapping and linear filtering in order to render a truly smooth and realistic scene.
