The Terrain - Step 2

Post by Carsten » 2006-03-02, 11:09

Hello all,

after we've basically agreed on this sketch as the base for the TD island
http://images.ca3de-community.de/main.p ... itemId=213
and after I've been able to use World-Machine to well integrate it with the real TechDemo.cw file, the next questions must be clarified:
  1. Where is the player starting point? (Remember, we want to start somewhere at the beach, because we arrived with a small boat at a small wooden dock.)
  2. Where is the entrance (emergency exit) to the facility (indoor part)? (Remember is must be either at the top or bottom border of the map.)
  3. Which is the long tour for sightseeing, which is the short path that quickly leads from the starting point to the indoor part? (We should be able to "see" the entrance to the facility from the starting point, maybe after a 180° turn.)
  4. Where shall be smooth, flat hills for woodland, and where shall be high, sharp rocks?
These are very important issues that we should clarify as soon as possible.
Using the above sketch as a base, I'll make additional sketches with my suggestions analogously to http://images.ca3de-community.de/main.p ... itemId=183 over the weekend, and I'd be very happy if you added your own, too!
Best regards,
Carsten

As promised, here is my suggestion:
http://images.ca3de-community.de/main.p ... itemId=309

Comments and other suggestions please! :cheesy:

(As soon as we've agreed on a final concept map, I'll start/continue to model the terrain with World-Machine, use Terragen to create a base texture for it, and then we can make another walk-through!! :wohow: )
Best regards,
Carsten
