Hello everybody!
I've created a little Sidebar-Gadget for Ca3DE.
Requirements: Windows Vista or 7 Beta.
The Sidebar-Gadget searches for news or other things on the Ca3DE-Homepage.
It also contains a news-updater, that reads the news for you from the homepage and write it in a flyout.
It's only beta, so there could be still bugs!
Here's a little description, how to use it:
First extract the installer, then open it:
Select your favourite language and then press ok.
You must accept the license and then you will see this:
Please select first the main-package (required). Then you must select your language-pack. If you're German, select the German-package. If you're English (England) select the England-Package. If you're from the USA select the US-Package. This are required information from the sidebar!
Then, if you want, you can select the Newsupdater, which allows you to keep always up to date.
Then press Next and install the programm.
If you're now restarting the computer, you should see something like that:
This is the Splash-Screen from the Newsupdater. It is starting with windows to keep you up to date. If you don't want that, goto Start > All Programs > Autostart and delete there the Schortcut with the Ca3DE-Icon.
Now you can use the Sidebar-Gadget. Here are some screenshots:
Now a little description, how to use the Newsupdater:
You will see a little Tray-Icon in the Task-Bar. Klick right on it:
Now there are many links to klick:
Exit: Exit the programm
About: Will open this:
Help: Will open the forum
Options: later
Update News: This will update the news in the flyout (simply klick on the News-Button in the Gadget).
The Options-Dialoug:
There schould be a window, that look like this:
You can now change some settings:
Show Splash: This will show the Splash at the start of the program
Run Updates at start: This will update the News at the start of the program
Language: Here you can change the language.
To save the settings, simply close the window.
For changing the language you must restart the computer.
That's all for now. Have fun!
I would be happy about some feedback etc.

Thanks, too
If anyone has an idea for more features, I would be happy to hear about it
Maybe, I'm adding more languages, because the Sidebar-Gadget is only shown to that people who live in US, England or Germany...

Isn't there a way to make English the default for everyone whenever German is not used?MatthiasG. wrote:Maybe, I'm adding more languages, because the Sidebar-Gadget is only shown to that people who live in US, England or Germany...
E.g.
Code: Select all
if (OperatingSystemSettings.UserLanguage=="german")
then GadgetLanguage="german";
else GadgetLanguage="english"; // Rest of world. ;-)
Best regards,
Carsten

Re: Ca3DE-Sidebar-Gadget V2.0
I don't know,
Microsoft isn't very logical
My program is English or German but the Sidebar-Gadget isn't it:
It is in a folder called "ca3de.gadget" in the Sidebar-Folder. There must be the language-files in the folgders de-DE, us-US, en-EN, it-IT etc. I'm going to test it on a computer, which is set on "Italian"...
The Sidebar-Gadget is only based on HTML and Java-Script. Nothing more
But my program is written with AutoIt (based on C++ ). I'm searching for a solution for other languages...
