Re: Terrain faces ?
No, not directly. All parts of the terrain must be covered in the material that is used to paint it, as is shown in the terrains that ship with Cafu (TechDemo, ReNoEcho). This was/is intended to be used with a texture-generation tool such as Terragen (there are more, I have to look up their names), ...

Re: Terrain faces ?
Unfortunately, that it not possible. The core feature of terrains is their level of detail implementation. Specifically, we use the SOAR algorithm, see https://computation.llnl.gov/casc/SOAR/ http://www.andrasbalogh.com/RangerMk2/ http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2981 for details. That i...

Re: CaWe newb
I cloned the sources in January form Bitbucket and "scons-ed" them successfully. Building a big Gtk/Qt/Wx source package is hardly ever straightforward in Linux but Cafu turned out to be a rare and pleasant exception. Thanks! Depending on when exactly you cloned the repository, using the --recursiv...

Re: Time for a cleanup?
it looks like the folder mapobjects is missing Games/DeathMatch/models/mapobjects/doors/mcitydoor2l.lwo Not quite: The TechDemo is a conversion of a map that the author originally made for Doom3 (we're using it with his permission). All the missing objects are Doom3 items that he put into the origi...

Re: CaWe newb
arfur9's reply reminded me of what I should have asked first: How did you get Cafu? Which download did you use, or is it a repository checkout? About the resolutions: At this time, we have no mechanism to "stream" huge terrain meshes or textures as would be required to cover large worlds with high d...

Re: Time for a cleanup?
Yes, sure! The TechDemo map is huge and has some interesting features, but it also has a couple of problems. The objects near the start can probably all be removed. These are leftovers from when the map was first converted for Cafu, and I never got around to replace them. In fact, the most appropria...

Re: CaWe newb
I'm not sure if I understand your question: Is this about resolution (e.g. number of texture pixels per m^2 of terrain) or about units, e.g. 1 unit in the game world is 1cm, 1m, 1000km in the game world? In Materials/Terrains.cmat , afaics, only one file is missing: Textures/Terrains/ps_Texture_1k_a...

Re: binary release
Yes, please checkout https://bitbucket.org/cafu/tools/overview
In there, python script
In there, python script
deploy.py
builds a binary release. The script imports common.py
, see CopyRepoToBinary()

Re: GUI issues
Every now and again the Cafu crashes changing game, for example if I loaded testpatches then testphysics.. when I try techdemo Cafu stops responding and closes. I'll try and see if I can find a reason why, I just tried 6 different games and it was ok! Is this a reproducible problem? Has something c...

Re: GUI issues
Done. I've pushed several commits that implement GUI mouse clicks via the "fire" button -- the left mouse button. And this without firing the active weapon at the same time. :cheesy: These commits also prepare for a couple of future changes and I'll still implement some additional improvements ...

Re: GUI issues
Just a quick note: I've had to fix a bug in CaWE first, but now I've started working on using the fire-button for GUI clicks. It's a problem (and has not been done earlier) because even on the server where the new state is computed we need to know not only the state of the button ("is down") but als...

Re: AI example?
I added an example bot to ReNoEcho yesterday, please see the latest commit in master. Unfortunately, the script needs a review, as it ignores the settings in the entity's components and overrides them with its own. That used to be on purpose, as the script actually computes the values e.g. for the l...
